I can't get my stock carb to work (running WAY lean and getting a bad lean miss) so I've been looking at webers, but as we all know, they aren't smog legal. I think they actually check the numbers on the carb to see if they are smog legal or not, so I dont think I can just get away with putting it on and hope they don't notice it.

In my research though I found that there are CA Smog Legal Weber carbs for Toyotas(here is the link: http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGear/ProductDetails.aspx?PartUniqueID=1E2E2788-1D58-4012-9763-335863B0AF35) . They also have them for some other vehicles, but I was wonder a couple things. Are they vehicle specific (the carb, not the adapters and all that) and does it actually have to be on that vehicle to pass smog?

Basicly, can I buy ones of these and run it on my LUV and pass smog?

It seems like if I could someone would have done this by now, but I figured I might as well ask, just in case.

Thanks

If it has a C.A.R.B (California Air Reasearch Board) number it is smog legal on all california vehicles that use a carb. A while back some one found a air filter adapter that worked with a weber so a stock air filter would work. The air filter has to be a closed type unlike the one that comes with the webers.

EDIT: found it, look half way down

search.php?keywords=air+filter+adapter&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

This might work as well

Awesome. I'm pretty sure that it has the C.A.R.B. number stamped on it... How come this hasn't come up before? Is it because they cost more?

I'll double check with LCE, but I may end up getting one of these. Anyone know if they are any different than the non C.A.R.B. ones and if so, what is different?

I cant answer why this has not come up before but if it had a CARB number and it works and passes smog I will ask Ben to make a sticky with the info somewhere on the site.

Glad to help.

It will be a while before I get the money most likely, but this will be first on my list.

I'll will let you guys know how it goes when I do it. I am going to see if I can get the carb cheaper (since I wont need the adapters and all that, unless they will work) and see if there is any other places that sell them.

All of the Webers in the K8000 series are CA Smog Exempt, so if you see one of them, snag it up. I'm pretty sure that is will have the CARB stamping, all the Weber sites I have gone to show that series as smog exempt.

Us CA guys may have a chance now!
