If a fella were going to upgrade the cam and valve springs on a s.b., could it be done w/o removing the heads?

bighappy,
I've seen it done by doing a cylinder at a time. You screw and air fitting into the spark plug hole and keep positive pressure on the cylinder. Something around 75 PSI should do. Then you compress your valve springs as usual and swapping out you springs.

Yes, i have done this. Remember though to bring your piston to TDC before trying to remove the spring. Good luck, Bryan

Im not stuffing a huge cam in it, just something along the line of 470/480-220/240. Just dont want a 30 year old spring breaking on me. Thanks for the help.
