itll be fine. a stock cam will only make power till about 5200rpms. ask me how i know! lol

5000prms on an unbalanced 4 banger is not problem as long as its got good oil pressure. heck, ive had the pup up to 6500rpms, but was just making noise. no power up there.

but with the cam that i might buy from a guy in australia, ill have power till about 7500. 297duration at .470lift with a 110LSA 8O itll sound gooood!!

well i picked up a g180 engine today with a good head on it. the cam journals are super clean, so this is the one im gonna rebuild.

does anyone know if a g200 rocker assembly will work on a g180 head? id rather use the g200 rockers on this engine, since they look stronger.

well i have the cam lined up now.

im buying a cam, AND an adjustable cam gear from a guy on http://www.ozgemini.com

the cam will spec out at 297*int/exh, and .470in lift with a 110LSA.

its gonna cost me about $130US, but for what im getting, i think it worth it!

now, i need to start worrying about how im gonna feed this monster! i dont think a motorcraft 32/36 weber wannabe is gonna cut it for the cam. guess i need to start lookin for a 4 barrel intake or somethin like that. either that, or find a 38/38 weber, and i dont think thats gonne be happenin. 8O

heres a pic of the cam gear too...

Image

i get paid on the 2nd, and the 5th, and get my tax returns soon, so this is going to happen! im jacked!

im not sure on just the gear. hes selling the cam and the gear as a set.

id like to run twins like your setup, but thats a whole hell of alot of dough i aint ever gonna have. that and i could never get em tuned.

id like to stick with one carb anyways. then i wont have to worry about gettin them sync'd up and stuff like that. im thnkin i need to start looking on ebay for a 38/38 or something of the sort.

38/38 would be my choice, although a 32/36 will work

well right now, i can tell the 32/32 ran out of air at about 5500. it would fall flat on its face there.

with the cam im getting, im gonna need about 320CFM to support it, so i might look into a holley 2 barrel. the ones that look like half a 4 barrel. i was looking at maybe one large SU carb too.

well i have bid on a holley 350CFM 2 barrel. the auction ends in like 18 hours, so i hope i win it. the auction is up to $51, so that wont be bad.

oh, i also moved this thread to 'drivetrain upgrades' since this inst a very stock engine, or truck anymore.

4 barrel intake eh? how much? this sounds interesting!!

you have any pics of a 4 barrel intake for a G series? i could find a way to adapt the 2bbl to it prolly.

well i didnt win the auction for the carb. kinda sucks.

anyways, im gonna talk to my dad and see what hes got for carbs over at his place. i remeber him havin a matching set of stromberg SUs that would proll work pretty well on my engine. ill have to build an adpater to run em, but it shouldnt be that hard.

well after some thought, and working with some ratio calculators, ive come to the conclusion that im gonna run 4.56 gears.

i was thinkin about it, and with the 410s, and the luv tranny with the lower 1st gear, i would have no 'get off the line' unless i revved the piss out of it and side stepped the clutch.

also, at the end of the track, i would only be at like 3800 rpms with a 24 inch tire. and with the cam im getting, my power band is going to be like 3000-7000rpms. so with the 4.56s and a 23.5in tire ill be around 4900rpms at the traps.

that and the truck will be a hell of a little get around town truck. lol. i dont think anyone will expect this thing.

im not sure yet. theres a guy here local that has a stock luv rearend with 456s that im thinkin about pickin up from him. since im stayin with the 4 speed, another stock rearend will just bolt in.

im not totally shutting down the 12 bolt idea though
