I have a 78 stepside with a 350 police and a 700r4 trans. The trans is making a clicking sound when it is in drive. i had it run for codes and none came back. the shop said they dont know the cause of the problem. it does not slip and hooks correctly on takeoff. any ideas? :?

is it a constant click or just on decel?
is it more like a rattle?
does it do it when your're stopped or rolling?
does it do it when you're neutral too or just in drive?

You know it could not be your tranny at all. It could be a driveline sound or even the rear end and the drive line carrys the sound to the tranny thats why you may think it could be the tranny.

I like the idea of an overdrive gear in a V8 Luv.
So, with a basically stock sbc, would a shift kit-ed 700R4 hold up in a daily driver?

mine required some minor "massaging" for the TH350 trans anyway but the 700 shouldnt be much different. I adjusted mine right on the line where the trans tunnel meets the firewall and both trannys are basically the same in that area. so i guess the answer is YES if you use the Hooker installation kit's directions to the T.
