Does anyone know what problems I could run into with this set up. I am considering this set up rather than a automatic because I prefere manual transmisions. However I haven't found anything about it here. Has anyone done this? :?: :?

I'm sure it's doable. You may have to do a little custom work to the tans tunnel with a hammer. Not sure though. I know a 4-speed fits so I assume a 5 will too.

I was tossing around a similar idea recently. I'd like to have overdrive again but I couldn't get a 700R4 to live.

Older post.if the T5 trans is out of a camaro or firebird with a V8 5spd.Don't put the 5 spd in.It won't hold up to and horsepower! I was going to go 5 spd but a close friend told me how I drive,Put AT in it.You'll hurt less parts. That was 18yrs ago.But when you get in the truck, age doesn't mean a damm thing

Get a T56 out of a vette 8O The new ones are like 400+ horsepower and should hold up to whatever you throw at it. Plus a whole extra gear!

The corvette does mate to rear end.I looked at the camaro/firebird 6spd is plenty strong enough, but the shifter is located in the very back of the tailshaft housing.I work for a major auto dismantler in the area,so I was able to look at one out of the car

I was gonna stick a T5 in my 67 chevelle, but I found out there is 2 different kinds of T5's (for camaros/firebirds anyway). The one that I have is off of a v6 camaro, I was told that it won't take the power. But... There is another T5 that came on the v8's. Its called a T5 World Class, from what I'm told this should take the power. I've seen a few of the world class T5s for sale in the paper, so they are real. This is just what I'm told anyway, don't beat me. :x

A Word Class t-5 will hold up. I had one in my small block 72 Vette.
I beat the hell out of that thing and it never gave up.
