question is ???????
IF i put all the smog equipment from say a 82 camaro on the p/u does that make it smog legal?
i know i should call dmv but i want to see if i will seem like a dumb S.
it makes sense right?
i have been told when swapping powerplants you MUST go up a year or two

I had an 81 nissan 4x4 w/ a 327 in it, and I lived in Cali at the time. I had to take it to the smog master, and the requirements for the motor which was a 62-67 327 was a stock breather, heat riser from the manifold to the breather, and a pvc valve. So I put all that on, and got it smogged then yanked it all back off  So basically you will have to have what ever the year of motor requires to be smog legal, then do what you will afterwards. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

This should give you an idea on the rules here in CA. It's not as horrendous as it seems, but having said that... it can be a pain in the butt.

I have a BAR label like the one pictured above. it says 1964 327 with an X in the PCV box. so basically what that means is I can put any small block I want in it as long as it resembles a 327 with a PCV valve (cant fool the BAR with a big block). They dont give out labels like that anymore. only for engines from a car that is later model than the recipient and it has to have all the factory smog equipment on it.

I contacted the referee station about a year ago when I was still going with a 350 in my LUV. The guy I talked to said it's really not that bad to get the car done. Just make sure you select the right engine (least amount of smog equipment like from a Silverado truck), that you install all of it correctly, and when you take it in to the referee, have the information he needs (i.e. engine year/size/codes, where each smog item is located) and it goes smoothly. Didn't sound that terrible actually talking to the guy that gives you the ok.

that's it exactly.. you just have to make sure it's not one of the "heavy duty" truck engines and you'll be all set

take I-5 or I-15 south to I-10 = from 15 go west from 5 go east
in ontario get off on milliken go south ( away from the big mountains )
past jurupa ave keep going south it will be on the left just look hard

in monrovia exit I-10 on peck road go north towards mountains it is a little driveway on left all the way in the back

check the recycler ads if you got them up there to find out the days or go too http://www.pickapart.org i think thats it

ecology is in san bernardino off of waterman call 411 never been there seen it from street

and theres one in adelanto up in the desert off I-15
