Please STFU Post Whore :2gunfire:

Old Blue, are you planning on using a toy motor? If so, you will of course need the engine/trans/t-case and both driveshafts. You want to be sure to get the T-case crossmember, engine wiring harness and ECU as well. IMO, this setup will get you better results in the end.

If you are planning to keep your stock motor and trans, you will need a divorced t-case from another vehicle. IMO, A Suzuki Samurai T-case and intermediate driveshaft would work for this due to it's small size, ample strength when mounted properly, and only having slight variances in driveshaft flanges compared to Toyota.

You will also need the front leaf springs and front axle at a minimum although I highly recommend using the rear Toy springs and axle as well.

The steering box on an 85 is going to be a push pull type which is not what you'll want to do. A steering box and pitman arm from an 86 or newer Toy with IFS will make power and crossover steering much easier on you and can be found online or in a SALVAGE yard for around 100$ or so.

With those parts, some welding ability, and the will to do it, you'll have one bad ass, tough and capable rig IMO. Whatever you do, don't expect anything to just bolt together. Whichever drivetrain you decide on, you need to factor in that you are going to need some driveshaft work done which is usually not cheap but absolutely necessary. If you don't have a reputable shop near you, I recommend calling Jesse at HighAngleDriveline.com , he's the man! This is exactly what I'm planning on doing to my Luv when I get to that point, therefore, I have already been researching info. If you need any further info, I can direct you to some excellent sources of info to help you on your journey. Keep us posted with your progress and good luck :D

Ok, I know this will make me sound like a mean fawker but I guess I need to spell this out...

Yes, 30. I visit every day also and you had 30 + posts within 24 hours. I know this because I can't help but see your profile numerous times on each visit due to the amount of posts you make which are usually the "yeah, I know" or "me too" type which are fine to a point, I mean we all do it sometimes. A discussion board is for discussing things. I just feel that you should use more a little more discression, I.E....before you blurt out every thought that pops into your head, decide if it is useful and needs to be said. If someone is asking a technical question, and you don't know the answer, why post anything? That just fills up the persons thread with junk he doesn't want to hear and didn't ask for. For example, Someone posted the other day about needing tubing work. You obviously knew that he lived thousands of miles away because you said something like you would do it for him if he didn't live so far away. What would the purpose have been for saying that? I can only think of 4 possible reasons. A. You wanted him to know what a nice guy you were? B. You wanted to make sure everyone knew that you know how to bend tubing? C. You just blurted out what you were thinking at that moment? D. You were just post padding

Now I don't want to take up any more of Old Blue's thread so I am not posting here anymore unless it's to respond to HIS questions. If anyone has anything else to say to me on this matter, you can PM me.

All the Toy parts and info you need are right here :).

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/

Go to the Toyota forum and read the FAQ at the top. It is LOADED with useful info. You can also search the Toy forum with keywords from what you want to know. The answers are there. If you are searching for a word that is less than 4 letters, use the * key to add it up to 4 characters. :D

You may want to consider buying a single cab Toyota 4x4 in good running condition and just adapting your Luv body to the Toy frame. This is what I think I'm going to do. You can buy a Toy truck with a beat body cheap. Do the math for all the parts you'll need and you find that it may be more cost effective with better end result to just do a body swap. I see perfect donor trucks on Pirate frequently for around a grand or even some less than that. Not to mention a body swap would be alot less work IMO. Think about it. Fab up some body mount/adapters, or fab up engine/ trans/T-case mounts, front and rear leaf spring mounts, setting axle caster etc. etc. You will be trying to make a ton of stuff fit where it didn't come from where as with my idea, your chassis is already a somewhat bulletproof Toyota truck with an abundance of used parts around and a slew of aftermarket merchandise which will bolt right in place. All you have to do is make your Luv body fit on the frame and of course you will have minor things like steering shaft hookup, brake lines or booster swap, some wiring etc. You can also incorporate some body lift into your adapter mounts if you wish. Can you feel where I'm coming from?? Hopefully I can get mine started soon so we can share info as we go. :D

I wouldn't do that.

If you are patient and watch the pirate board's vehicle section and your local papers and stuff, you will be able to find a Toyota. I just bought an 82 Toyota shortbed for $500 yesterday complete with not so good body and a non op'ed title just needs a motor put in. My "foundation" as I've been calling it. All I need now is a 75 or older Luv cab, dual headlight front clip, and to find a stepside bed somewhere. Big pimpin
