i just finished the most frustrating rebuild i've ever done.......and it was worth every second. i started friday at noon and wraped it up at 2:00pm sunday morning(went to the crest theater for an allnight blood movie marathon sat. night too)ALL BY MYSELF...NO CHERRY PICKER
cam went to .421
pistons up .30
weber32/36.
had the intake ported to the carb and polished , polished the intake side of the head
removed all the smog crap
running a solid 160 psi in all four cyl
the truck had a stock(?) 2" exaust so i didn't spend the money on a header(yet)
haven't took the truck back to my machinest to have it dynoed but it SCREAMS.i don't want to guess at hp and torque, but it will definetly haul my trailer around like a kid on a skateboard. doesn't really burn out but it barks second gear (i buy my own tires anyway)
i had one setback this morning after i had everything together .....forgot to put the keeper key on the timing chain tension adjuster

and it blew into pieces......had to jack it up, drop the pan, fish out the pieces and put the damn thing back together with the head still on.

thank god for long needlenose pliers.
i don't have a working camera at the moment but to tell the truth, the only thing you can notice is the weber and a lack of smog stuff.so i'll post a few pics when i get some sleep.
damn this was a long weekend.................
