That is correct, the Hooker trans mount sets on top of the crossmember and is only raised by the thickness of the transmission mount material, maybe 3/16". I have one presently installed on my 72 Luv.

Good morning. 12:30 am here in San Jose and just got off work. I am going to try to send photos of my front motor mount set up and other relevant photos. I hope it works, and hope they help. Ok, photos are 2.50 MB and I don't know how to downsize. So, provide an email address and I will send them that way. Sorry. Contact me at: jeffwalker6647@gmail.com.

That is what I was thinking. Because some one on here was building the mounts out of 6" X 4" tubing and it was flat on top! This also gives more clearance for the rear of the motor at the firewall and header clearance at the cross member! Thanks!

Email sent Jeff!

I am real close to getting the cab back on. Just need to make sure that it all fits right then trim as needed, if needed. As they say nothing left to do but finish!

Great job! Looks like you picked up the header to frame clearance you were wanting. Great photos, it helps me have a better idea what needs to transpire for my project, just no where close to your progress! Please keep us posted as you move forward....

Ok, was not able to post photos of the 350 350 install in my LUV. So, did email to those who asked. Much easier for me to email. Tried downsizing but kept showing over what's limited. Anyway, if there are any members in San Jose, or the greater Bay Area, I would like to hear from them.

Thanks for the pics and the compliments on this build! I have built some Hot Rods/Street Cars/Rods in my life and this little truck has tested my ability and sanity! Any help from anyone is always welcome and appreciated!

3rd LUV back. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all. I tried posting photos of my setup to no avail. I was able to email photos to one person, but meg@... would not go through. I'll be more than happy to share my photos with anyone that's emails me at: jeffwalker6647@gmail.com. Little frustrated right now as I thought I blew a head gasket, but when I got the head removed found the sealant on a bolt into the water jacket failed. Used Mr. Gasket thread sealer and now it's worse than before. Getting rid of 15 thou compressed thickness shim gaskets this weekend and replacing with composite gaskets with 25 thou compressed thickness and new head bolts. Also, where can I find front windshield molding and rear window molding with slider?
Have a great holiday season!

I use these guys for my image sizing. Works great for this board. Upload your photo, tell it to resize for message boards, download the resized image, upload it to here.

https://postimages.org/

Would be a hell of a lot easier if these boards just lifted the bandwidth restrictions and set images to autosize. But, not my server, so...

Can you take a measurement from the front cross member lip to the balancer front? The lip is closest to the motor. And one from the cross member under oil pan to bottom of pan to top of cross member?

Yes, widetrack, I will do that. Try to get to it tomorrow or Friday as I have appointments today and most of tomorrow.

Good morning. At least it is here in San Jose. :esmile Requested measurements: top lip of front crossmember to harmonic balancer (8" balancer) is 1&3/4"; bottom of oil pan to top of crossmember is 1&5/8"; and, from bottom of front crossmember to bottom of balancer is 3/4". There's plenty of room if one uses a single belt pulley, which I do.
I hope this helps. I have always found it best, if one can, to fabricate your own motor mounts rather than kits. I used factory motor mounts off the block so I get no vibration through the chases.

I built my mounts for this build. Pic added for reference to mount. I used ACE mounts for some location help. Now I will get some pics and measurements for reference. Thanks for taking your time on this.

Got it on all fours! Have to finish the brake and fuel lines then fit cab and bed. Liking the way it's turning out!

A couple pics of my fabricated tranny mount. Just a couple more pics to look at. Had to crawl underneath the truck to take them. Also a pic of my battery where fuel tank use to be. Now have fuel cell tucked up under the rear of the bed.
