Several of you guys have already helped me tremendously- with head gasket questions. And I thank all of you in advance for your mechanical assistance.
:D
Okay, I decided to tear the engine all the way down to the block... it's been torn down to the block for awhile now. :)

It's time to start rebuilding. I've ordered new rings and pins, new bearings main and rod, upper and lower engine gasket kit, and I had the head milled some time ago. I have several inexperienced questions that I would like to ask. So in an effort to maintain simplicity and organization, I am going to proceed with a list of questions. Thanks in advance to all.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) I bought Permatex gasket sealant; which gaskets should I use this on? (i.e. water pump; timing cover; valve cover... etc... ?)

2a) The book tells me how to set the clearances for the head...
2b) Since I have had the head milled, should the clearances be different?
How do you go about determining what the clearances should be?

3) How do you install spark plugs? Don't you have to worry about a gap or something?

4) I bought new pistons off of eBay...w/rings and pins. The rings and pins are interchangable. But the pistons are for a 72-74 Luv. My engine is a 76.
I've noticed that the only differnce is that the original pistons are beveled.
However, the new pistons I just bought are flat on top. Can I use these new pistons that are flat? Or will it conflict with the valves? If it doesn't conflict with the valves, what will be the power output? More compression equals more combustion equals more power?> ... I hope it'll work... so you can say right now there is a will....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for the help guys. :smt045
