Post subject: What happened to 1 and 4
PostPosted: Wed Mar 23, 2005 3:49 am
With the motor running, I pull off the #1 and #4 plug wire. There is no change in rpm. I get a spark from both wires, but for some reason BOTH #1 and #4 cylinders are not fireing. What could have caused this, and what can I do to fix the problem???

well with no rpm change, that kinda scares me. Try runnin up the rpm's a little and see wut happens. How does the truck run. Maybe I missed something. I am guessing, right at the moment it is running like shit? If for some reason you have no compression in the 1-4 cylinders then its time for a new motor. Good luck, and keep us posted!

It could be something as simple as dead or weak plugs. Run the engine, then pull the plugs and see if they are wet.

You might check that the plug wires are all on in the right order. If #1 and #4 got switched that could explain your whole problem.

Cylon.. now that speaks volumes... i had this problem with mine also and it was the cap... the little contacts in it where the plug wires went were gooned up...

I put a new dist and rotor on it, and finally found that stupid thingie and come to find out, I had the 1 and four backards.

But with the new ignition system, it runs a helluva lot better.
