well im back with some questions

my truck is really running poor

the max speed i can get out of the luv is 65-70 mph on freeway at around 3200-3400 rpm i believe

which i have installed a header, flowmaster with kinda large pipe 2 1/2 exhaust which was bad idea

i have the 32/36 weber on it and a fawcet fuel pump so i got some performance parts on it

i have it timed @ 6 degrees

no vacuum leaks around the carb base and hoses are plugged off
no egr valve either i covered it up

and also is it hesistates when i give it gas then it will pick up slowly and it gets only like 16 mpg on freeway so i think somthings not good

i have looked at other post but couldnt find anything with a positive answer

i have tried to get my dad to help but hes busy

any help would be awesome its my daily driver and scrapper too

i can take pictures of parts if needed

How old is the carb. It may need a rebuild. If it has ever even once back fired up through the carb, it probably blew out the power valve in the carb. A broken power valve will make it hesitate when you first give it gas.

ok luckily i had another weber carb on my other luv to grab off put it on the truck tonight no rough idle like my other truck did but right when i pulled off the weber on it before i had that blue silicone all like jelly out the gaskets about ready to fall in the intake

my dads friend who i shouldnt of listened to said he put it on his weber gaskets when he had a problem with air coming through the spacers
i cleaned it up that probably helped i got pics of the silicone but i cant seem to get them on my comp from my digital cam I ll get them on later

well anyways when i put on my other weber ran good i was workin the throttle and bam backfired right through the carb again then still works fine so i blew another power valve probably

i got the thing timed right would my points have anything to do with it they kinda are almost due again

sorry long post guys and girls

Back firing thru the carb is an open intake valve, which means timing. Maybe the chain is off a link or two.
