the early LUV motors were a combined manifold. That meanins both the intake and exsaust are mounted on the same side using the same studs/bolts. The later years becouse of the hemi cross flow head had intake and exsaust on opposit sides.

i saw that header on ebay and noticed that the seller was wrong on what it would fit. it had the gaps between the 1 and 2, 3 and 4 cylinders which would be where the intake manifold would be on the early motors. the header for the newer motors is a solid piece. the flange connects from all cylenders.

i believe he is saying it will not fit on an 80.
If this is the hooker that was on just on ebay, it is for the early motors.

Look at the bolt pattern on the one you got. This link is to one that will fit 76-82 luvs. If it isn't the same it won't fit, unless you happpen to have an early model motor in your 80....

yea my post was a little hard to follow, that header is for the early style motor and won't fit an 80 model.

more power , more accelleration, better gas milage. coupled with a weber 32/36 or a holley 5200, its like driving a new car!

i noticed better acceleration, you can hear the difference when you put it on. when you hit the gas it races up faster. i did loose some low end torque. but i had a glasspack on it. i switched to a turbo muffler and gained the torque back. the biggest difference is with the weber, it will make it go, if i could just get rid of that hesitation  . the hitachi never hesitated. but overall the weber has given me alot more power.

look into getting your flywheel lightened, i think that helps reduce the hesitation

well my truck is a federal emmisions truck so it has no cat, although i put one on it to make it burn clean enough to pass the smog test. i took it back off after it passed. if you have a cat i'd leave the cat on and put a glass pack muffler on. a glass pack has virtually no back pressure and is very free flowing, so combined with a cat would probably be about the right backpressure for the 1.8
