Any chevy Luv that was sold in California had a different set of emission components that were required by the state to meet or exceed Cali's strict emission laws. With that being said the Cali luvs had a catalytic converter and O2 sensor with a brain box installed. If the air fuel mixture was to ever get out of spec or the converter would clog up causing excessive exhaust temp then the light would come on. Most likey the lights circuit has been grounded by either a bare wire rubbing the body or it is back feeding through another componet. Hope this helps
