Firing order is 1342. Did you remove the old wires without knowing where they went?

I just looked at my manuals and they don't have a good picture of it. Best I can say is to start from square 1. Pull #1 spark plug, turn engine until there is compression there, remove the distributor cap and put number 1 wire to where the rotor points. I think the distributor turns counter clockwise, confirm by watching as you crank it. After #1 is found then just wire them up with the firing order.

My book shows---While looking straight down at it over the passenger fender, #1 is in the 5 o-clock position #3 is the 2 0-clock position #4 is the 11 o-clock position and #2 in the 7 o-clock position. Of course this is if nobody has messed with or changed it before. Yes, it turns to the left.

This might sound dumb but is cylinder 1 Closer to the fire wall or the radiator.

That looks correct, 1342 going counter clockwise. Number 1 is closest to the front.

I don't understand the confusion - you've got a photo showing how it went.
