I have a problem with lights not on my luv, but on a 61 Mercedes. The front parking lamp is an 1157 bulb with two contacts on the base. The blinker is the other contact and it works. When I use my meter, I can pull 12 V off the contact for the parking lamp circuit, but the bulb still won't light up. I tried a brand new bulb because my luv uses the same one and I had one of the pair laying around.

I think I just need to clean it somehow. I sprayed QD electronics contact cleaner in there. Is there another good way to clean contacts deep in the socket?

Thanks

It doesn't use an 1157 bulb. Most German autos use a 5489? The number escapes me but the contacts on the base are different looking. A 1157 will fit , but won't work because the contacts are different.

The one in the tail light is different. Maybe the front is the wrong bulb.

Thanks
