Just did an engine swap on my 80 luv, same motor (1.8) and my gen light stays on. Can anyone post a picture of what the wiring on the alternator is. Would greatly appreciate it.

The factory wiring diagram is here on this site:

I would also check for a wire grounding off.

I was actually looking for an actual picture to see where the wires hook up on the alternator itself. Sort of new to mechanics, just starting to understand more about engines.

Ah I gotcha, my engine is out of my 79 and all that stuff is in a plastic tub right now, I'd take a pic for ya if the stuff was intact.

I can probably try taking a pic of my 76 tomorrow in the sun light, I'm pretty sure the alternator wiring is still the same?

Well it looks like someone replaced the alternator at some point with a Motorcraft unit, and the wiring does look like it's been messed with a little too.

Here's what I could snap though, the alternator half was in the shadow and regulator half was in the light so it was kind of a bitch to get it all in one shot.

The voltage regulator is at the left, the wire loom that opens up is in the center, and the last one is where the wires connect to the alternator.

The red wire with the yellow connector sleeve you see on the regulator mount is the red wire with black tape you see connecting to the alternator.

Hope this helps, the schematic is what you want to go with though, it's really not that hard to read and everything is labelled as per factory specs.

I may have had a different alternator on my stocker, but it wired up like a 3 wire GM alternator.

The big wire goes on the stud, obviously.

As for the other 2, the wire that has voltage with the key on goes to terminal #2 on the alternator. The other goes to #1.

There's a ground wire too. That one should be obvious.

Yeah the stock ones were Hitachi (35 Amp) and since it does hook up like a GM one I was thinking of getting a 60 or even 100 Amp SBC alternator for running a stereo and some fog lights.
