Luv has been sitting for a month (in between homes atm... yeah anyway...), went out to it this afternoon to kick it over and see that its ready for the long commute tomorrow. key on, fuel pump on and strong sounding, charge light very strong (always before the car starts) turn key aaand... Click. nothing. try again aaaand... click. nothing. One more time, no dice. I sit there thinking my starter has gone tits up as this was a problem 2 times for a month before I had to let her sit for a bit (aug). That time it was only one click. Tried one last time, turn key, VROOM! good and strong, idling great no problems. Just a query before I do it again tomorrow morning, Likely my starter or could something else be a culprit? solenoid perhaps, coil? Ah well, I got paid today so I'm going to budget for the pertronix dizzy and probably one of their coils. Thanks for reading fellers.

Stock engine?
Mine does this every so often, just click (it's doing it occaisionally now), sometimes several times before it starts. In the past I have fixed it by removing the solenoid from the side of the starter, the cylinder and the piston inside will be coated with what resembles clutch dust & won't slide freely. Clean both well, lube lightly with WD-40 and it will last another 3 or 4 years before it starts again.

I see said the blind man as he picked his hammer and saw. :)
Yes, all stock (more or less) Thanks, I'll try that and see if it helps.

Mine does this also. Usually when it's been driven and all warmed up. I have replaced the starter with no difference. My truck has some pretty hacked up wiring, so I just figured that was why. It's never left me stranded so.......
