 Post subject: timing chain

i have a 78 the likes to throw timing chains it is a new rebuild and i only get about 150 miles befor it throws it again does anybody know what causes this and how i can fix it

Chain tensioners should hold the chain tight. Make sure you release the tensioner after the chain is installed so it's spring can push against the chain to keep it tight. Push down, turn to the left. You do know about the tensioner adjusment screw I assume?

Your tensioner could be worn out, too. I would replace it with a new one when you replace the chain.

its a brand new tensioner the chain was new too

The sprockets are worn down I have new ones ordered and should have it back up and running soon :D thanx for the help it was much needed :)
