Hello,
Can someone tell me how much a 1980 Chevy LUV 4X4 Weights. I am Looking at converting a trailer to haul my truck. I must add that the bed is off the truck so it should weight less than stock.
Thank you
Mike

Gross vehicle weight rating is 3750 lbs and empty it weighs about 500 lbs less, since it's a 1/4 ton load pickup.

I thought they weighed around 2400 pounds. RatnLuv's weighs about 2800 with the big block.

The 3750 came right off the door pillar on my 1980 LUV 4X4. The 1/4 ton payload figure came from many trips both full and empty across the scales at the county dump. By the time you add gas and driver, you've ate up part of that potential capacity. Drummer, your PDF file site shows a 2 wheel drive and 3950 GVWR, so it could haul a 1/2 ton, even after driver and gas.

What I find even stranger is that outside of the US, you can buy a brand new LUV. There's a dealer in Malta, I believe, that will import one to England for you. And I'm talking a 2004. They're a neat looking little truck.

well my 4x4 has a gutted interior for rallying and mine comes in at 2600lbs. I would guess that yours would be about the same as the bed on these trucks dosnt wiegh but 200lbs. But i would overbuild just to be safe.

when i weighed my 78 2wd it wayed just over 2000lbs. i think the 4wd models would only way about 500 more at max. but i could be wrong. matt

:D Thank you guys! I am hoping to get the weight around 1500-1900lb or less. I am going to purchase a 1980 Luv and a 1981 Pup. two for one deal. My plan is to convert them to offroad buggys. I will strip them to frame build a cage around that and go play. A die-hard Luv person might get sick but the trucks aren't in pristine shape to begin with I just need to find motors for them. I would like to keep most of the body but that will be more work than I have time to do so I will end up stripping to the frame got to make room for those 35's. Sorry if that offends anyone.
