I want to pass along a situation I just ran into. My radio and wipers were not working and that turned out to be a fuse box issue. The fuses were not blown, but messing around/ cleaning them solved the problem. However, that messing around resulted in my generator light going on. It seemed to be a fuse box issue but no amount of messing/ cleaning made any difference. When I pulled the connectors from the back and clipped them together with test wires the generator light would go out. Confirmation that the issue was with the fuses/ fuse box. It turned out that the problem was in between the brass plates that are riveted together between the connectors on the back of the fuse box. I drilled out the rivets, carefully clean all the brass parts, and riveted it back together with some 1/8 copper pop rivets that I just happened to have. Wallahhh!!! The generator light is now off. Enough oxidation had build up over 29 years that the circuit was incomplete. Had that light come on when I did not happen to be messing with the fuse box would have meant all sorts of incorrect guesses about what the problem was. I'm sure I would have started with the alternator and moved on to the regulator and so on down the line. Hope this will help someone else. By the way, I am the original owner of an 80 2x4 Mikado that I have now had for 29 years and I am just now taking advantage of all the wisdom here.
