need to get it working. i have a full tank and sometimes it reads half i have a 320 + trip planned for tomorrow would like to get it working i just noticed that if i'm holding the engine at high rpms it goes to full

There's a multi-wire plug in connector on rear of instrument panel. Panel is held in by a few wing nuts on panel studs. A little shot of WD-40 will make it easier to carefully pull plug loose, without cracking panel's delicate printed circuit board. Just pulling loose after WD and re-plugging can make a big difference, cleans wire contacts. You can hose it off with electrical contact cleaner after removing to clean off WD or just leave it.
