I can't seem to find a fuel filter anywhere on my 77' Luv 1.8 2wd. I have had the carb rebuilt and smog stuff removed but the truck will still spit and sputter while excellerating(does it sparatically). I was thinking the fuel filter may be clogged but I can't find it...or maybe the fule pump is going bad. Anyway...can anyone clue me in on this??? Thanks!!!!!!

There's 2 filters on the truck. One is up in the engine compartment and the other is back between the tank and fuel pump. Look up under the bed of the truck just forward of the gas tank filler tube. It mounts on the frame. you might as well change the fuel lines too from the tank to the filter and from the filter to the pump. Odds are they are original and will need replacing.

You should find the fuel line from the carb and follow it back. If it's a stock carb, you have 2 lines at the carb. Follow the bigger fuel line. If you follow it back all the way to the metal line goes underneath the truck, it must have been removed previously. My 75 Luv had the filter on the drivers side fenderwell. I cant remember where the newer Luvs have their filter located. If it turns out that the filter is gone, it would be a good idea to install one.

There is also a fuel filter inside the electric fuel pump. The end of the origional electric fuel pump will come off to reveal the fuel filter.
