Trying to see if anyone has any ideas.. I have a new carb on. The truck was running ok and then all the sudden the thing is overheating all the time now. It blows raidiator fluid all over the place even took the thermo out and the thing still runs hot. Someone said that if the carb is out of wack it will cause the engine to overheat. I cant get the carb diled in rght at all.

since it's blown liquid all over, have you checked the distributor? when those get wet you usually have to buy a new set of points, or if you're lucky, just clean off the contact points inside the cap. if those get wet ur just basically setting off all the plugs at random, causing it to majorly overheat.

:-p

hopefully that helped

These engines are very prone to blown head gaskets. Especially after they've been overheated. Check out the cooling system, and also do a cylinder leak down test.

I put a radiator from a Jeep Mail Delivery truck in mine and she runs really cool - like I can run 75 MPH and it won't go past normal cool on a 98 degree day.

It may be pressurizing cooling system with combustion gases from a blown head gasket or a cracked head. This will cause radiator cap to blow out the excess pressure.
