i got a 81 isuzu pup but i'm not able to find much information on them. but i did find this luv site. and from what i understand a luv and pup are very similiar. so i have a 1.8 liter pup and i would like to put a 5 speed behind it. what can i get one from? and if it matters it's gas

basically any pup between 83 and 87 i think has a 5 speed that should bolt right up. also there's a car but i can't remember what it is so i'll get back to you on that

I've coverted my 4x4 from 4spd to 5spd...(okay, I'm still doing it)

If you are looking for a 2WD 5spd, find one from 84-87ish PUP if the truck you want to put it in is a 78 or newer LUV. The pup trans will have a cable clutch setup and save a lot of hassle. You could go up into the early 90s, but you have to look for the cable clutch, 87 to about 93 or so had either or.

The Impulse transmission is basically the same from 83 to 89, turbo or not. It looks to be the perfect match to a 76-77 LUV with hydro clutch, though to be honest I have not yet put mine (from an 88) into my 77 LUV. You do have to remove the remote shifter from the imp and put the LUV's shifter in, but that is just 4 bolts and not much effort.

For 4WD 5Spds, 86-87 gas powered Troopers and 4x4 PUPs/pickups with the cable clutch will go in about like the one dkay is doing. Check out that other thread at http://forums.luvtruck.com/viewtopic.php?t=2207
