you still need the control module that sits by your coil to go with it though

O.K., just finished the electronic upgrade.

On the distributor I just took off, one of the wires was black with a red stripe. It was connected to the negative side of the coil. So, when I put the electronic distributor in, I put the wire with the red stripe to the negative side of the coil.

Oops, no start.

I switched the wires, put the red stripe to the positive side of the coil, and 'voila, fired right up. And, I left the resistor in the circuit. Have fun.

That's the kind of luck to have!

Here is a side note for anyone else doing this:

I got the distributor from a guy doing a v8 swap. So, I was able to get the wiring harness from the distributor to the coil, and got the coil as well. It's got a nice connector in the middle, terminal rings at the end, so you don't have to whack anything up. If you can get lucky like this, grab the whole thing. He included the plug and coil wires as well. (thanks, big dogg)That was a good thing, because the original coil wire would not quite fit on the new coil. They are in good shape, so I'm not going to replace them. If they hadn't been in good shape, it would have meant a trip to the auto parts store to finish the job.

I just removed my distributor, removed my coil, put the new ones back in, and was done in about 15 minutes, including swapping the two wires at the coil. Good, easy project.
I'm going to go back and check the timing, but that can wait till this weekend.

Well as usual when i do do something on a car nothing goes right i pulled the old distributer out there was two wires connected to the post the wire from the condenser and the red and black wire from the neg. side of the coil
on the new electronic dist. there is a coupling with a red and black and green and black coming if i leave off the condenser i have only the wire coming from the coil is that all i need just the one wire
