hey again, plans fell through on my last motor so i am in despret need of a running luv motor for my 80 4x4. it has to be on the cheap side and it has to run. i know if anyone can help its yall! i was looking at a rebuild kit for the motor with Zero compression but its like $400 and thats just for the bottom end!!! so i would rather spend 100 or 200 on a used running motor untill i get enough money and time to rebuild my motor. if you can help that would be great. thanks.

You need to check out a place called MP Central on ebay. I got a complete lower end..new pistons w/pins .30 over, rings, rod and main bearings .20 under, thrust bearings and all the stuff including felpro gaskets (complete set!) for less than 200 bucks!! Just got it today and I am about as happy as a pig in his own....shtuff! They are out of Souix City Ia. Sorry about the motor taking a big dump..I just went through the same thing with mine..I was able to find a runner from my local wrecking yard here for 400 but the timing chain cover was cracked. They gave me a cover for 10, and I did all the work..of course. Had to pull the head and milled it and so far..its been a good running motor. I will keep an eye open for one and if I happen to run across one, I will let you know.

If you have a chev sb I'll trade you straight across for my stock motor. :)

seriously though, if you're up for a short drive there's tons of luvs here in yakima that just sit behind people's houses, you might have to take the whole truck but I'm sure you could pick one up for about $300.

found a motor! picked it up for 300 yesterday. i will be spending the week instaling it and trying to figger out my electric problum. does anyone know why i would have no power at the ignition switch? i have brake and head lights but nothing inside the cab. i can use a remote starter and get the starter cranking but thats it. is there a wire somewhere that i forgot to hookup? i checked and replaced all the fuses. checked the connections at the ignition and still nothing!!! i need help! thanks guy's.

Sounds like the harness power wire or fusible link is not connected. There should be a big fat wire on the positive terminal on the battery that hooks to the starter, and a smaller wire or two that hooks into the harness on the fender beside the battery.

I have checked the harness and i have done everything you have said before. that did nothing. there is only a few things it can be and i have checked all that i can think of. do you think it can be the ignition switch? i replaced the missing one with this one and i do not know if it worked before. is theere any way to test the ignition switch? i have cleaned the plug and terminal and still nothing.

try a new ignition switch. if you checked the wires by the battery and all is cool there, sounds like to me its the ignition switch. Bill Lew. Id.
