Alrighty, my luv is still missfiring. When i run it realy hard (mostly hill climbing and mudding) it starts acting like the carb is loading up (lack of power hesitaion and back firing). Now it dosnt do it all the time so its probly not the carb, but i tuned it anyway. New air cleaner and i just replaced the coil. This would leave plugs wires rotor and cap that still need replacing. Could it be in one of those? Also bear in mind its an 82 ignition and a webber carb. Anyone have any ideas i should pursue?

When you're pushing it, your generating more heat than normal, and transistorized system are really susceptible to heat problems. Have you another control module to try?

Yep, electrical systems do not like heat. Does it only do it when the engine is warm, or does it do it no matter how warm the engine is?

I will be watching this post to see what his problem turns out to be, because i have just the opposite prob w my truck. Now that it's getting cold outside my truck is a sluggish dog and belching back thru the carb for 1st ten mins on the road each mrning, then once I'm up to 55, it runs fine and faster i go the better it does, but this 1st thing stuff that's going on w it....well i'm about to give it a swift kick in the pants!

bear in mind that this is a BRAND NEW engine installed in May this yr, only has 6,000 miles on it right now, and EVERYthing there was brand new as well......am confused here. :?

it only happens when the motor is running at operating temp (i have only ever seen it hit 190*). I did plugs wires cap and rotor today and the problem was still there (though i did pull out one vary nice carbon fouled plug). So i ran some carb cleaner down it and played whith the mixture and idle some and it seems to be idling a whole bunch better now. Ill see if it runs better tonight when i go to my brothers house.

did that tune up solve your problems?if not you might want to make sure that your adapter plate for the weber is tight ..... i have to tighten mine down about once a month and it does the same thing when it's a little loose.

well my truck is running fine now. Lil blue you might just try playing whith the adjustment on the carb and looking for any cracked vac lines and such. Also a crack phenolic spacer might do it too.

Okay, thanks for the tip there, really appreciate that.
I haven't had time to even raise the hood, much less look it over.Everyday, it's jus run run run and get the cars to get this wrecking yard into full swing soon as i can 8O
But hopefully the smoke will clear soon, and then i can examine it closely. meanwhile i have no choice but jus put up w it. Gave it a good swift kick in the pants, but accomplished nothing but hurting my foot LOL
