My truck starts fine but when I let off the ignition switch it dies. Replaced alternator voltage regulator and tried different fuel pump relay same results. Guess there is a bad wire for the fuel pump relay , any ideas/advice. Thanks

You're not supposed to wire the fuel pump to the ignition because if you get in a wreck the fuel pump will keep running but you can do this to make sure it's a wiring issue on that circuit and keep it until you figger out the proper wiring. Someone on here will know better than me but I think the power should come from the alternator.

I agree it's wired that way from factory it seems there are two conditions starting and running. My truck starts but doesn't stay running.

Because the start circuit also gives power to the fuel pump because the alt isn't turning fats enough to power it while cranking. So your truck will run for a sec after it starts and then run out of fuel.

It dies as soon as he lets off of the starter. If it was a fuel pump issue it would run until the fuel burns out of the carb, that would be a couple minuets. He has a electrical issue with the ballast or wiring to the coil.

There should be enough fuel in the bowl to idle close to a minuet at idle, if not your float is way too low.

Figured it out. I just happened to notice when I was cranking it over the radio didn't come on. Actually after testing nothing worked in the run mode on the switch. I took the switch out and it was cooked , must have been losing power in the rub mode. Thank you for your help and ideas. Ryan
