Hey Mad, did you get the truck running ok? I was just wondering cause I know he was having troubles with the carb and I loaned (another story) him mine to help him get his truck home. The last I had heard was that he couldnt get it running so he was getting rid of it.
I was wondering if you had better luck than he did?

LOL hows it going? Ur the guy with the other carb. yeah he told me the story. I took the luv to my mechanic and he said that he could rebuild it, but it wouldn't run to its capability. So i baught a rebuilt one from a fella in cali. And it runs awsome but i eed a new carb b/c it starts to spudder and then i pump the gas and then it runs good till i shift gears then i have to do it agian. But all in all it runs good and i luv the truck.
Thanks Derrik

The best carb to replace the stock one is the 32/36. I have the dgev with electric choke. Depends on what you really want to use.

i think a 38mm on the litte 1.8 might be a little much. the 32/36 would probably be a better choice.

now, if it was bored out, cammed up, and had a header it might make things a little different

Bigger duration, more lift cam. You may have to consult a machine shop, or call competition cams and talk to a tech guy about a special grind cam for higher perf.

there is another header on ebay like the one i bought and its the same seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=33631 i am very happy with the looks of it, it even came sealed in the pacesetter box. its not flimsy metal like alot of headers you see. also i bought the weber dgev-ic 32/36 this is the electric choke model. i shopped arounf for prices and found it was cheapest to buy it from weber. http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/inc/pdetail?v=1&pid=330

just as good as weber? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 2450455474
Is there a difference? Also, do i need a different fuel intake to handle the fuel this carb will dump?

Nate, I would just save up and buy the weber 32/36 carb. I try not to buy something off of ebay unless I plan on rebuilding it anyway.

there's often good deals on new webers on ebay to be had

i have a manual choke 32/36 in my toyota, it's a good carb but the choke is a pain in the ass. if i had any say in it, i would have gotten a water choked weber. it taps into the cooling system and gradually opens the choke plate as the engine warms up

Would a Carb out of a 81 Series engine work on a 73? I want to dump that manual choke. The other problem that I have is that the carb stands up too high so I can't put the air cleaner on the engine where it needs to go without having the hood popped open

:?

Lemme kno!
