I just went down somewhat the same road and I think from what you will find on here and I think most of the guys will agree..
1. Change the carb to Weber. The stock ain't worth spitting on. In fact I wouldn't waste a .50 Bullet on it.

seriously. I'm not saying that's "The" problem your having but It very well could be part of the equation. Was for me.
2. I don't remember you mentioning changing your voltage regulator. Sounds like you did everything else in that circuit. If so that's the only thing left in that circuit you might have missed. Might as well since you did everything else.
3. And I had to clean the whole fuse panel very throughly. I would suggest that anyway, as you will want "ALL" your connections too be up to par to accurately troubleshoot electrical stuff. Recheck the wiring again and again if need be and seriously consider the Electronic Distributor conversion that these guys on here have done. That will eliminate the need for those stupid points etc.
4. Another note that probably isn't causing your immediate problem but since you just got the truck.... have you done a compression test? You might wanna do that soon before wrapping any more money in it so you really know what you have to look forward to.
Don't know if any of that will help. But check back everyday. It won't be long and some of the other guys on here will be jumping in with more thorough and maybe more detailed info for the immediate issue.
