Greetings from Seattle,
I'm considering possibly purchasing my father's LUV from him. He's had it a few years and it is in "sound mechanical condition". I wanted to touch base with some real LUV enthusiasts and see what you think his truck is worth. I think my father over-inflates everything's value. He hasn't yet told me how much he wants for it - he's kind of dragging on the conversation (over email).
Here's the info he has sent me about the truck, in his words:
1979 Chevy LUV
VIN: CRN1498266484
1.8L - 111 CID - 2 BBL Carburetor
2 wd/4 wd selectable with a low-high axle
5 speed Manual Transmission w/ extra shift lever for two speed axle
Towing package
Rhino Lining for the bed
Tire size: P205/75R14 95S (all in great condition)
Reinforced bracing on Chrome roll bar
3 Roof mounted spot lights
Grill Guard with covered fog lights
Stereo system w/ great speakers behind seat
I recently put it in Conaway Motors for routine service and asked them to keep it for 2 weeks and drive it back and forth to work every night. The truck is fun to drive hard so I told them to drive it hard and let me know if they suspected anything wrong. They gave it a glowing report and refused to charge me anything for the service because it was so much fun. When I bought it I drove it back from Spokane over Snoqualmie Pass in 4 wd – low speed axle as fast as it would go and as hard as I could and got 25 mpg. And the pic... it's my favorite color!

I am looking for a small pickup for general light duty, and to haul broken motorcycles occasionally. It would never be a daily driver for me.
What do you think it is worth? Here's the NADA:
