Chavy: You have two choices.
1) You can pull out the trans from under the truck which is very hard, and may not even be possible with a 4x4 truck.
2) You can pull the motor and trans together, and then pull the trans off the motor to rebuild it. Once you've got the trans ready, you put them back together and stick it all back in. This can be MUCH easier than trying to get the trans loose from the motor and out with both of them still in the truck. The bottom of the cab and the trans crossmember get in the way making it really hard to get the trans out.

If you do pull the motor and trans together though, you have a chance to replace a lot of other parts really easy like the rear main seal. If your motor is that recently rebuilt, then it probably does not need much done to it. But, it may be a long time before you have it apart again so if anything needs fixing the best time to do it is when the motor is out and in the open. I'm not say you need to rebuild your motor, but if it needs anything, you might not get another chance to replace stuff this easy.

What I said is the motor that is in the truck right now is brand new not rebuilt
Since its a new motor and has low miles on it should be easy to drop the tranny out
dont you guys think so

whether your engine in 100% brand new or not, it would be a whole lot easier to pull th emotor and tranny together, especially since you have a 4x4. There just is not clearance under the turck to move it around and get it out. You could spend quite a bit of time trying to get it out the bottom, or you could get the stuff together and have the engine out in an afternoon and, once your tranny is rebuilt, back in just a quickly.

I don't want to sound like a a$$hole, but with your limited experience I would say this job might be over your head. You may want to leave this up to the pros.

Chavy, I don't want to start a pissing match, but I am a professional mechanic with a ASE master certification, and a degree in automotive and diesel technology, and have made a living for the last 22 years at it. You asked "how do you know what my abilities are", it's a easy answer for me. To be a mechanic you must have basic knowledge of several areas of mechanics. I have looked at several posts of yours and have concluded you do not have a good general knowledge of different aspects of mechanics. When people give you advise you often counter them telling them it is wrong when it is right. Bottom line, don't ask questions if you don't want to hear the answers.

its going to be alot easier pulling the engine and trans together but no to be rude or anything..... if you cant figure out how to pull the trans and motor out of the truck (even if engine is brand new)lol.... do you think that you will be able to rebuild the trans with any problem.... and even if your dad has been around luvs since they came out dosent mean that hes capable of rebuilding a trans and giving it the same potential that it would from a pro shop... my advice is to pull motor and trans out as one and then take the trans to a trans shop and have them rebuild it with all new parts and pieces

and if you have it higher in the air wont make a difference in missing the cross member and all th other stuff under there. on my truck i had to pull the motor out and then i had to pull the trans out from the top but i also do have a v-8 truck....

Just soak the sending unit with some penetrating oil and it should come off.

As for removing the tranny, I've down both methods 800xl listed.
When I pulled the tranny out alone, I had to loose my exhaust pipe and really fight with it and to turn it at the right angle to get it out.

I recommend taking the engine and tranny out as one unit. Even though there are more things to do, it will be much easier.
Theres not too much to go wrong, the hardest thing for me was getting all the vacuum lines on right.
