hello my name is Elijah and I live in Columbus, Ohio, I just thought I would drop in and say hello...
I have a 1981 Chevy Luv, well atleast the frame and drivetrain of the Luv truck that I am thinking about restoring...
I have many other projects so this one has to wait it's turn... I am thinking about turning this truck into a autocrosser/track truck...
You have the same idea as me!
I've had a 1979 4X4 Luv for a few years, and a 408 cid SBC race motor that's been collecting dust for the last 4 years or so. Got to looking at them and a friend suggested putting them together.
My plan was to ditch the Luv's 4X4 running gear up front, making it a RWD. Find a front clip out of a sports car, suspension, brakes (everything), cut grind and weld until it looks like it fits the Luv chassis like factory. Put in a Jaguar independent rear suspension.
18" wheels and tires all around, then go hit the track.
This is definately a simplified explanation of the tremendous amount of work that will go into such a project, but I think I'm up to the challenge.
