I recently bought a pile of automotive parts which included what the owner said was a diesel luv tranny. I know it will bolt up to a C223 motor, because I tried the other day. I can post pics so someone more knowledgable may positively ID it. What do you have to swap?

Dan--

I have found that most times these transmissions can be repaired by replacing the bearings which are bad (it would be wise to replace all the bearings at once) and nothing more. So, if you have a stockpile of bad ones, perhaps you could practice up on one of them. The Isuzu shop manual is quite good at guiding one thru this job. You would need gaskets and seals too.

Paul, thanks for your insights. I agree--however in this case the countershaft has gone bad and a couple of gears are missing. I am very interested in making an adapter plate that will allow GM (t-5 for example) trannys to adapt to the Isuzu motor via GM bellhousings. Of course will require diffrent flywheel, starter, clutch etc. It seems to me this is a vehicle with a world class engine, and a lousy tranny.
