That’s what I want to know ... where are they, they should show up in the yards every now and then... I have only found one it was a 4x4 step side lifted 4 inches window visor , tube grill tube bumpers fender flares custom tail gate tinted window cool paint roll bar bucket seat but the truck was a wreck nothing left was good but the grill which now is on my truck.. And this was 3 years ago (the first thing I found for my truck)

My theory is ... since they were fixed up and cool looking, they got sold around and used up more, and faster.

A customized truck is what younger kids ( with a lot less $ and sometimes less care and experience) want. So the custom trucks probably got the hell torn out of them and trashed and even wreaked faster than the stocker that the old man bought new, maintained, and drove to and from work every day.

Here in L.A. I see various mini and mid sized trucks towing others , in groups of 3 or 4 sets, heading towards Mexico all the time.
I figure the nice old ones went down there years ago also.
