I bought a Weiand tunnel ram from summit a while back I got the kit that comes with the manifold, carbs and linkage. The linkage that they sent with it is junk, it looks like it could cause some dangerous situations. So I have decided I need to come up with something better. This is where I am kind of stuck, all the good linkage kits that I have seen or seen pictures of all show the carbs sitting sideways on the manifold. Im pretty sure I could get carb spacers to raise the carb up high enough so that the arms would clear the manifold. I know tunnel rams on street driven vehicles sounds like an oxymoron but I dont want to lose anymore low RPM throttle response that adding a spacer is going to create. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to tunnel rams! lol Your best bet is to look around like your doing for a linkage setup you like.. Im pretty sure most setups will be mechanical linkage. Inline carbs you usualy use a tie bar that connects both carbs so you can keep them in 'sync'. Just never fabbed up a linkage for one myself.

hey Derek I missed your call today because I was working. I think you would have got my message by now saying I was probably not be able to do anything until saturday. Anyway this tunnel ram thing has turned out to be a nightmare. What do think about adding spacers so I can turn my carbs sideways. From my knowledge I am thinking its not a good idea, but it never hurts to hear what other people that know more about it than I do have to say. I am thinking that I am either going to have to modify the crappy linkage that came in the kit or fab up my own. Do you know anyone in town that sells small hiem ends like small enough to use on my home made linkage that I am probably going to end up making?

I think friday (tomorrow) if I get home from work in time I am going to swing by Redding one stop and see if I can use there cherry picker saturday. The owner is a good friend and he told me I could use it when he did my motor work if he isnt using it. If that doesnt work I will try one more person that I know. Osh was the place I was thinking of, I just couldnt remember where I was thinking of. LOL I saw a garage open the other night and there was a cherry picker sitting right about where the door closes, gave me some bad thoughts. well any how talk to you later.

i remember making throttle linkages out of all kids of stuff, from coat hangers to all thread rod, to boat throttle cables, it's not too hard.
Anyway...i just found a Hogan's sheet metal intake that I'm considering buying so i can run dual 750 Dominators. and I guess I will be tryin to figure out a linkage too. I think one of the tops for the Hogans has them on sideways or at a 45* so thats gonna be real fun cuz IMO its harder to fab a linkage for that as opposed to the carbs in line.

Summit has some pretty clean linkage kits. I think Edlebrock is the one I was hoping to use but I cant turn my carbs sideways. Back when I was racing outlaw karts I use to make my tie rods out of thick wall aluminum tubing and heim ends I am thinking about going with something similar but smaller and a bell crank for my linkage. I just want something that is going to be functional, safe and look clean.
