Is it a chevy nova custom or does it have a GM motor. If it is I have the adjustments for it I just have to get the book from my mother in laws house.

I believe what he has is a plane jane pick up truck. A Silverado Scottsdale or what ever would have more creature comforts. Kind of a full size non Mikado.

i got some bad news for ya......i don't think you have adjustable valves....unless that's not the stock motor.

my 78 was all hydraulic.... pull the covers off and look.....tapping in the top end of a hydro lifted engine usualy means that there.s not enough oil pressure getting to the lifters or that the lifters are worn to the point that they won't adjust with oil pressure......

try running an engine flush(oil).......sometimes there's crap in the oil cavities that reduce pressure to the lifters...... if that doesn't help try taking the lifters out and cleaning them.but don't forget to fill them back up before you re-install them.

Will try it thanks all

Well i put some sludge remover in it and cleaned oil cavities and quiten down a bit but still having same problem...also took some of the lifters out and they dont have any wear marks on them to give me the thought that they would be bad but dont know that much about hydraulic lifters...any thoughts???? 8O

Take a pushrod and push down on the lifter and see if the plunger moves up and down in the lifter, I had the same problem and my hydraulic lifters they turned into solid lifters and did not move at all. Just a thought .
