okey dokie......so i'm building this v-6 setup for my 80......
does anybody know if i can bolt the 2.8 bellhousing up to a t-56(6spd)?

i got a buddy that has a wrecked 97 camero(V-8 + T-56) and will give me the trans for $200, if the bell housing bolt pattern for the t-5 is the same i'd luv to gear my luv with it. i however can't afford to go get it if it just won't work.

2.8 has a different pattern than a small block. the 4.3 was the same but if I am not bad wrong the .28 was not the same so it would not work

i think his question is if the tranny will bolt to the bellhousing not if the bellhousing will fit the block...

on one of the camaro sites they are swapping t-56's in place of t-5's on v-8 cars. I guess it's about input shaft length, and input shaft splines for the clutch. I believe the pattern to the belhousing would be different also as they swap the bellhousing when going from t-5 to t-56. If you check on some camaro sites, you might find more info.
