yesterday I set my timing with a light after setting it by ear and melting my timing light clip on the header. So I set the timing back to 6* initial and went for a drive. The truck wants to hold first gear for ever after taking off from a stop. I figure this has to be something caused by vacuum. Why or what is causing this problem?

I looked at the vac line and it checked out. I ended up pulling the side cover off and lubricating the pivot points on the govenor and it took care of the problem.
