Hey all, I’m back. Seems this place has kind of died off some. Just wanted to see how many were left here from back in the day.

Short of producing OEM parts at original pricing, I don't know what new changes would increase appeal to a dwindling community that drives inexpensive trucks that are 50 years old? Sorry, just being realistic. Have you tried to buy parts lately?

Also, social media is king now, which is fine. Roll with the times, as they say. Some things it does better. Sometimes we get a bump of new members when someone links to us on Facebook.

The pages and pages of information on this message board will remain here as long as I can sustain it, or until the last LUV is gone.

If you guys are bored, you can try and help some of the newbies?

I'm still alive and well. Only think to check in here every few months apparently. Like Ben said. Everything is FB groups now days, but it's not as good as this forum was. Just how the times have changed I guess.

I'm definitely not OG, but I'll post here more until I get on somebody's nerves :P.

The forum is much easier to search than Facebook, I can't count the number of times y'alls posts from back in 2008 or so bailed me out of a jam. The flip side of that is some parts you could buy all day for $40 back then are just dust in the wind now.

I joined this last year right after I found my LUV in Michigan. Drove from Oklahoma. Love this little truck!!!

48 years after my first ride to school in a brand new LUV, and I finally own my own. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive a reply from any of the inquiries I have posted on this site.

Yep.

Ghost town.

PS.....Just for giggles, I am posting an image of my really noice '79 step side.

That's why we keep this board up and running even though it's old school.

I'll copy/paste my post I just made in the OG sub-forum:

Wow, time has really passed by.

It's sad to see the site so dead after being so active here (and Isuzupup.com) with my dad (Putputtinpup). That's just the way the cards fall I guess for these niche import trucks.

A little update on me: Long gone are my Navy days. I was traveling mechanic for a German company until the mid 2010's, got hitched, almost bought a Luv diesel in '16 (not sure if I regret it or not yet still...). Wound up being an Electro-Harmonix tech then got promoted several times and learned a bunch. I'm now an automation Engineer at another European company. The family has grown, my wife is great, my son is super-smart, I have a Lexus with heated seats and I don't have to worry about hunting down a guy like Jerry for a good used heater core if it ever leaks.

Happened to talk to a German yesterday after lunch as we were walking back to a production hall and he was talking about how us Americans need small mini-cars and trucks like they do in Europe and blah blah blah.

So I showed him a picture of me next to my '82 Diesel and said "Like this? There's a lot you don't know man." I started telling him about the tax cuts and all the little trucks we used to have. The Isuzu/Chevy agreement blowing up, etc.

So I figured I'd pop by and see how things were hanging and bump some old threads for the Google bots. I still have a key to my LUV somewhere. I sometimes miss it, and I think about how far I've come with the help of some of you guys that'd helped me and my father fix get a few more miles out of our trucks. That and being able to help out the new guys that just got there's and the only good source of info is tribal knowledge and what's dug up from someone's garage.

I hope everyone is doing alright. I just read MyTmouz's post from '20. I remember reading his posts long ago. I hope he's at least doing OK in the condition that he's in, or that he at least passed peacefully.

I wish ya'll all the best, I'm glad to have been here and I'm proud to be an OG of this place. Maybe my son's first truck will be a canyon or something... as long as the floorboards don't rust out of those too.

Take care!

If someone posts a direct link to the facebook group, I'll join it.
