Remember where I have been posting I hope on the wiring? Well... I hooked up the battery and checked, all looked good except for some reason the high beam light came on on the gauge panel when I hooked the battery up. Turned the key on and the panel lit up, turned the key and it spun over. Hooked the always hot for the MSD and the TCI trans controller to the battery and the gauge panel lit up with the key off...

I said eff it and went in to finish watching Battleship...

Finally got back to it today. Got a couple of issues worked out and the battery is on the charger now as it was a tad low on voltage...

Hey mytmouz,
I have been following this thread for tips and tricks for my own conversion...
I am amazed at the skills some of you guys have...nice work, nice truck!

The custom fab skills I do not have!
Hopefully I will get there!

And life has sucked a lot lately... It has sucked it long, and it has sucked it hard, lol... Kept me from working on it the past few months... Anyways. I had a couple of issues to sort out from the first fire up. I had a part missing in my new MSD distributor and it wasn't working right. Fixed that and the non working oil pressure sender was replaced. It was a PITA to try to get it going by myself so it has been sitting. Someone came over yesterday and while I had an extra set of hands I got it running.
I let it come up to temp at a high idle, oil pressure was excellent, timing is a MOFO to find the sweet spot, but it seems to be golden now. I shut it down due to a leak on the fuel log, going to pull the carb off anyway, because the air bleeds seem to be stopped up, the corner idles made absolutely no difference when trying to adjust them.

Wish I had remembered to bleed the brakes while I had some help...

Since it finally cooled off, I decided to do my 3rd least favorite thing... Fiberglass work... I have the style step side bed that has the least amount of room for fat meats in the rear. Even with a custom narrowed rear the tire sidewall at loaded height is too tight for my liking...

Image

Sooo.... I like this better...

Image

To do that, I have to go from this...

Image

To this... And fill in the gap...

Image

I will have to remold the area at the front where the bed meets the cab. This side is the best side, but the step is not really made for stepping on, and it needs work, the other side is broken as well, so I will mod them both while making the repair....

I was looking at doing something like this when I had my step side bed a while back. I was thinking you could add a 1/2" or 3/4" sheet of wood, maybe T-111 to the bedside and then bolt the fenders on top to add the space to the wheel well. A "woody" style might look cool if it was finished up really nice but I didn't get too far along in the plan before I changed back to the stock bed.

I have an 83 model F150 stepside bed I am going to cut down to fit my hard body v8 truck. I bought a ford dually fender to use a part of to plug the filler neck area on the Nissan as it won't need it. I am going to use the rest of it on this truck...

Yes... It is a PITA, lol... I got a "deal" on a used carb, and spent a lot of time so far fooling with it. I pulled the carb for said fooling with right after I last had it running, reinstalled carb and it wouldn't fire. Closed the hood and walked away. I been thrashing on my 67 chevelle, so I hadn't looked at it again...

Got it to fire up again today. I think this carb is toast though. I have some tiny jets in it and it is still so rich idling you can't stay in the shop for the fumes. I need to find a smaller carb to verify, but I am definitely going FI on it eventually. Probably going to buy a new Holley Sniper TBI...

The cab is back in place, but not yet bolted down. Ended up having to remove the steering column and the alternator/bracket to get it to go in, but not too bad...

I fabbed up some brackets and installed the fuel cell and the battery box. Tight fit..

What is the size of the fuel.cell? Any part number???

As far as I know, there are no cells made specifically for the Luv,so part numbers are pretty much useless. Since you are going to have to custom mount anything you buy,or build, all you really need is to decide where you want it mounted, what you want it to look like, what you want it made from and how much you need it to hold. Then take measurements on the truck and compare them to the tanks listed in dozens of sites until you find all your perimeters. Or build your own. My own tank is a throw back to the " Moon" tanks used in my youth and fits my vision for my truck as an affordable base for weekend back roads roadster..
