If its a 4speed its the same. If its a 5speed then you could do it but it will take some fab worb. A member not long ago did this (swapping in a 5speed) so just do search...

it's the 4spd, what transfer case did the 1980 have in it.

If your asking about the LUV, the transfer case and 4 speed trans. is all one piece.

The Luv t-case and tranny are all one unit as said above. as far as Trooper stuff fitting, the 4 speed Trooper tranny (84-85) is a direct swap in, the later 5-speeds will require a bit of fab work to get them to work and the years that you would be looking for would be 86-87.5.
