Hi my name is Jacob Smallwood and I'm new here to the Luv-Board. I don't own a Chevy Luv (yet) but I use to. My grandpa first bought it to turn it strictly into a race vehicle, and I'm not talking a drag racer or anything like that but a ProArena Truck. It's like a higher budget tuff truck. He started with a 1979 completely bone stock 4wd and on his first race it was too low and it got high centered on the first jump, what a way to start out a racing carreer huh? Shortly after that we got modify happy and started hacking cutting the front suspension out and shaving every bit of 500 lbs out of the front end. We went to the local pick and pull and got a mail jeep 2wd front axle and springs and made our own hangers and stuff double shocked every cornerwith some high tech (at the time) Rancho RS 9000. Well my grandpa raced it for every bit of 5 years until he past it to me and my brother to share and we raced it every chance we got until he got his own. Thats when it was my turn to put the sole love into this luv. Giving it a snazzy paint job and new front fenders and even mounted a 1998 chevy s-10 grill for a while... Our luv truck was featured on TNN's Motor Madness back in 98 racing around the country. We really put our luv through some abuse having it roll over 13 times and still coming back for more each time. After the years of abuse we traded it in for a more high tech v-8 powered race vehicle with king coil overs that cost more for one shock than we paid for our old luv. Its been almost been 7 years since we had our luv and i miss it... right now I'm in the process of gathering parts including a complete 4wd luv I just can't seem to find one.

my plan is to get a 4wd and put a straight 4wd axle in the front with spring over, full cage and maybe some real good shocks and rebuild the motor or put a nice chevy v-6 in it to have a weekend beater for tuff truck events where our full on race trucks are too advanced to race and to take out to pismo and just fart around with it

I never knew anyone liked luvs enough to start a full website dedicated to them, i think its great

heres a couple pics of our old luv truck
