how hard is a body lift? i am thinking of puting a 3 in on but what dose it exactly require you to do?

Basicly it requires you to unbolt your body, and insert 3" blocks between your body, and your frame. However, to do that there are a bunch of things you have to deal with including, but not limited to:

Getting your 20yr old body bolts off, can be a pain in the a$$.

Finding a kit for your truck.

Making all your wires, hoses, and cables longer, or rerouting/streching them now that your body it 3" higher than it was.

Dropping the radiator/fan shrowd.

Cutting a bigger hole for your shifters, and possibly making them longer so you can reach them.

You have to deal with your steering coloum.

You have to raise your bumpers so your truck dose'nt look funny.

Givin the lack of lift kits for our truck of choise, a body lift aint a bad way to go. I've done/helped with a couple, and no two were the same.

I'm lookin at givin' mine one in the near future.

DO NOT GO CHEEP ON THIS!!!! Use quality parts! I've seen all kinds of stupid crap used for lift blocks (the scariest was 4" chunks of wood! Honest!)

Any one else think of anything I missed?

I am in the process of doing a 3" body lift right now.
I have already done the bed.
All I really had to worry about was the gas filler neck.
But I had an advantage...I took the body lift off of another LUV so I knew what I was in for.
My truck does not have a rear bumper on it, so I didn't have to worry about all that.
The real fun will be the cab. Hopefully I will get to that this weekend.
