always liked em !!! Im 29 and its a 1974 . . . came up forsale on a local classified section tulsaracewaypark.com and was listed at 1k . . . 350 with the good mounts, hooker headers, griffin alum. radiator, elec fan, ratchet shifter, bucket seats 456 and posi, newer chevy pickup alum wheels with 16" tires, homemade cowl hood, fuel cell, flowmaster and 5 inch tach . . so i call . . starter is bad but truck will run . . has been sittin in a feild for 6 months. . .
The guy directs me to his house about 5 miles from my work , dont see the truck but i have a trailer and cash . . he tells me his car is broke down and the truck is about 40 miles away and he is ready to jump in and go if im ready !!! ??? Weird . . . anyways we go look at it and i offer 700 and a milkshake on the way home !!!. . . (only becuase im an opportunity buyer and heck he had to ride with me to look at it ) He accepts . . . sure enuf i put a stater on it . .. adjusted the carb, shifter, set timing, change oil, go over and check the tighteness of about every bolt on it and its good . . .
I have had it for about 3 weeks and have drove it about 200 miles and to the track last friday . . . cast iron stock intake, stock cam, hei . . 14.30 14.02 13.95 not bad !!! I have an 11 sec street 57 chevy 2 dr post but i have good money in it some im gonna keep this relitively cheap and fun and have a good time. . . but im gonna see how fast i can go and only change things a few at a time . . . Since the purchase I already have already bought some brodix track 1's complete and ready to bolt on for $500 brand new in the box scat 5.7 i beam rods for $100 victor jr for $100 doug herbert ch6 602 lift roller cam with new comp roller lifters $250 comp pushrods and melling hv pump for $50 gear drive for $10 and some crane gold rollers for $75 so im gonna build another motor and may try some nos (hooked it up on my 57 but kinda afraid to use it on that!!!) but for the time being i wanna put a convertor and small bumpstick so it will pull a little better time and i can sale the engine in it running in the twelves for a little more than what i will have in a small cam and some z28 springs !!!
I have been reading on here for the last 3 weeks almost daily and have already learned alot . .. like good luck on a 5 lug swap . . i will have about what i got in the truck on that !!! I got the 9 inch and will cut to 52 like the little blue one that was sold . . . even read that they (light weigh luv's )want a little more convertor b/c of the weight . . . So thanks for the help already . . .

Oh yeah about the name so you know im into harleys . . have built quite a few and got my first one at 16. . .have had about 30 sportys and many roadkings, roadglides, etc. . . my boy is 6yrs old and right about the time i found out i was going to be a dad i was building my first hardtail chopper harley . . and i was getting into the internet and needed a name . .. so excited about being a dad and also building a chopper . . .you guessed it !!!
