Thanks guys. Happy to be here!
Leak down shows something horribly wrong with cylinder 3 in the bottom end. I dont know if there's a hole in the piston or buggered cylinder walls... just dont know yet lol. I'm planning to tear it apart sometime after work next week and see if its savable.. as I can't seem to find a motor...

Got her in the shop and ripped the hood off

I would check the head gasket first. These things are FAMOUS for blown head gaskets - to the point rockauto had them on sale for $4 ea at one point...

Also there's several guys in Oregon with extra engines. The northwest chevy Luv facebook group has all sorts of people talking about engines for sale.

You totally called it! Come to find out.... I'm not good at diagnosing engine problems lol. I've never been so happy to find a blown head gasket

Sweet! Cheap and easy fix.

Just make damned sure the head is good or you'll be doing one a month. Sometimes when the gasket goes it nicks the head in that thin little area. Good news is someone that's really good at TIG can patch it, then grind it flat again. I've seen MANY of these heads repaired that way and go on to give years of service.

Couple updates! I got the motor back together and back in! But in the process the radiator sprung a leak. It's currently at the radiator shop right now.
I had noticed that there was nothing on the usual spots that say if it's a g180 vs g200 on this engine. I never thought much of it. But the more I look at it the more I think it's a 1.9l. It has the hole for a mechanical fuel pump. And it has the updated tensioner from a 1.9. I dont know a for sure way to know... though I honestly dont care haha. I have some pics but I skipped a lot of steps.
By the way. One of the reasons I love this thing is the price of parts... if you can find them lol. I put all new timing parts on it and replaced every single seal/gasket I could find and it only cost me like 90 bucks shipped... from rockauto. The machine work on the head cost lol

The ugly luv lives! There was always a rattle in this motor that disappeared somewhere, and she runs pretty dang well! I ordered some new jets for the 38/38 on this beast cause the mixture screws have always been almost all the way in lol. So it might run even better soon!

The guy at the radiator shop is a badass and fixed her up for only 70 bucks!

Probably hard to tell but that fan is spinnin!
