I'm new to Diesel Luvs...I have an '82 diesel 4x4. Did they make both 1.8L and 2.2L diesel 4x4 Luvs in 1982?

The only diesel sold originally in LUVs was the 2.2L C223.

When my 82 diesel luv was emissions inspected the info said that it was a 1.8 but I can't seem to find any info about a 1.8 diesel in 82 or beyond. How can I tell if mine is 1.8 or 2.2?

Maybe there was a mix up. The gasers are 1.8. The diesels are 2.2. Maybe your truck went through an engine swap, or some info is wrong.

Well...a friend of mine had Carfax for a month and ran a check on my vehicle and it seesm that there as never an engine swap so it must be a 2.2L then. Just out of curiosity, is there a way to look at it and know?

I don't know where it would be for sure, but it should have C223 cast into the block somewhere. If it follows the trend Isuzu used on their gas motors it will be on the driver's side of the block somewhere near the back.

If it is a 2.2 Diesel You Can see it marked in raised letters right above the starter, on the block behind the exhaust manifold. Use a flashlight and mirror. It is in about 1 Inch raised letters. C223. Johnp

Hi there! I'm new on this sit, I'm from South Africa. I'm so glad I found this site 'couse I luv my Luv's with a passion! Here by us it was called the Isuzu KB20. From '79 to '82 it was fitted with a C190 (1952cc) engine. From then on it was fitted with a C223 engine. I don't know about the Luv's in other country's.
