Someone tried to break into my garage last night. I thank the alarm system we installed during construction for scaring them off. When I went to check things out I found foot prints in the grass (heavy dew) all around the garage and one step in the garage door. Tony, my man eating poodle, had fun as he bolted off down the road after him (only saw one person) and I had to run after him. Guess I need to fix the lock on the door now. Also I learned something, it's amazing how the cocking of a 22 pistol in the quite of the night sound like a MUCH BIGGER gun! Well, need to inform my neighbors of the event.

haha NICE! Bastards. I hate thieves. I have also scared people away with the CHIC CHIC of a 12 ga. They run pretty fast and usually dont return. I am glad to hear that nothing got stolen and your ok.

That is definitely a bummer, but at least you know that your burglar alarm was a good investment...

I live at the end of a long dark road which runs uphill from the house... it's a pretty good deterrent.
And what was it people say about not needing a gun?

Just one thing, I'm pretty sure I crapped in the bed when the alarm went off! Jeez, that thing is LOUD. After talking to my neighbors about this, they mentioned they heard the alarm and one lives over 800 feet from us! Well, they too are locking everything up now and Dan, right next to us, said the gas in the kids go kart, his riding mower and four wheeler was gone. I checked mine and ditto! Small price to pay for everyone being ok though. Living out in the country isn't quite what it used to be...

I was drinking coffee with some of the neighbors, some who are dairy farmers, said there has been a rash of break-ins around this area lately. Four wheelers, motorcycles, riding mowers, etc. are being targeted. The dairy farmers have the same ideas you have, step on my property without permission, try to rob me, and you WILL be here in the morning. Except they also add that the theif will be buzzard food. It's funny to listen to them when you hear things like, I was protecting this land long before you were born son. I'll just tell the law, I was protecting my herd and thought it was a cyote (yes we still have them here). I was shooting a warning shot to scare him off and can't help it if he was stupid engough to run in front of the bullet! (My favorite is) If he is too stupid to read 'NO TRESSPASSING' he's too stupid to live! Man, the older dairy farmers are people you want to have as friends, but don't want to piss off. They definately watch out for each other too. Maybe living in the country does have it's perks! Once you get to know them, you are treated like family.

Working on farm equipment for the last 12 years, I know what you mean about the farmers. I also have relatives that are dairy farmers in Minnesota.,

This sign, used in conjunction with the one below, constitutes a legal warning, the same as required of areas protected by CCTV

Just put a compact .45 on lay away! A big, heavy slow bullet is like getting hit with a baseball bat. 8)

There is a old cop saying around here.

Shoot the bad guy(my words) in the arm with a .38, he gets a hole in his arm.
Shoot the bad guy in the arm with a .45 and he looses his arm.

That is from a deputy sheriff that carried a .45 cocked and locked. At the time the city of Houston carried .38's
Any questions?

Shoot the bad guy in the arm nowadays, and you lose, end of story. It's amazing what lawyers can do...

Shoot to kill. Only one side of the story that way...
