Just got off the phone with DirecTv about getting our's fixed. It will be TWO weeks before they can get someone out here! I asked them if the dish systems were going out as to why it would take so long and was told their field techs are just tied up with other jobs. I then asked if they had that many new customers and was told they contract new installations out. Now, if they do not install new systems but are tied up on other jobs, what are they doing? This is the final straw and I filed a formal complaint with the Office of the Louisian Attorney General's office. This is NOT the service I pay for and we have had constant problems since getting the system.
Feel a bit better now that I had everyone's ear, I mean eye!

Do you have the replacement and service plan?
There is a tech support forum on there web site. They don't work for DTV(right) but I have seen somethings help.

Yes I do. I spent about an hour on the phone with them doing exactly what they said. The system hangs up on aquiring sattelite signal. I even asked them if the satellite was still there! Was told the signal is not getting from the dish to the main receiver, but I can get local channels on the other (non-DVR) receiver. Nothing else though. Even went and traced the entire cable from the dish to the receiver for obvious problems.. Dang I miss my SyFy!

Did you put the non DVR where the DVR is and did it work? If so they need to send you a replacement unit and quit screwing around. Call them back and go up to a supervisor if they don't want to do that. You should get one in a few days.

Have a single dish. I am going to try plugging the non-dvr in. I was told the DVR receiver is a master unit to send the signal to the other rooms. We have one dvr with a separate power source which is in-line and then two non-dvr units which feed from it.

The other unit also shows 'searching for satellite signal' and sits there. (771) shows up this time.

You will have to make a account to post a question, but it is not a problem to do so... I have used it several times.


Troubleshooting or DVR would be the one I guess you would use. Read them a little to see which one makes the one you should use. They can not make a service call for you.

I checked the dish alignment already and from what I see, the numbers are right on. Will check the site you posted. Thanks...

i had the same problem spent days trying to fix it myself as it took 3 weeks to get some one out... he ran all test and things where good but still didn't work... then of all things he said "lets try this , it only is the cause of 1% to 2% of the time... lets plug it into a different out let..." FIXED...
come to find out if it doesn't get full volts/amps or what ever it will do as exactly as you describe and what it did to me......
i have three receivers and tried them all in the living room (would work in the bed rooms but not in the living room) he unplugged it from one wall and into the other wall near by and like i said have not had a problem since... worth a shot... good luck

I had a intermittent proplem like that (771) and found a bad connecter on my coax. I haven't changed it butm all i have to do is pull the connecter (it's a slip on type) and touch the ground and the center and it works again.

The best thing I did was switch to Dish Network. It's amazing how qick one of those companies will come out to set you up as a new customer but is hell to get them out for a service call. AT&T almost gave me high Blood Pressure trying to deal with them in the past.

Nothing to lose by trying out these things. As soon as I get home (donating blood right now to save a life ), I will try them. Finally, kicking the dish may have to be done.
